Crafted exclusively from the Baga grape variety and sourced from certified organic and biodynamic vineyards, Nossa Calcário Tinto is a pure and profound expression of the limestone soils that give it its name. It displays a deep cherry‑red hue with ruby reflections and excellent concentration. In aroma, it shows great purity, dominated by notes of violets and wild strawberries, wrapped in subtle smoky and spicy undertones, while still young. With ageing it gains complexity, energy, and aromatic depth. On the palate it is structured and intense, with fine, noble tannins perfectly integrated. Rich yet balanced, it combines silky texture with vibrant acidity that lends freshness and longevity. The finish is long, elegant, and harmonious. A wine with a strong culinary orientation, it is ideal for pairing with simply prepared quality meats, game, and characterful cheeses. With extraordinary aging potential, it can evolve in the bottle for several decades, revealing additional layers of complexity over time. Filipa Pato confirms the old saying, “a fish’s child knows how to swim.” Although she followed in her father Luís Pato’s footsteps, even in her academic training, Filipa has always wanted her own world, her own project, where she would showcase her ideas and rise with her own momentum. It was the 2001 harvest, a great year in Bairrada, that would bring all of this.
