This Fitapreta from the Alentejo clearly had a spirited youth – a hand-picked harvest using 20kg boxes suggests a dedication to perfection, yet the spontaneous fermentations and 15-day “Cuivason” process reveal nature taking the reins. The result is a deeply violet wine, brimming with fresh black fruit aromas and a hint of dried herbs, evoking a lovely memory. It’s a full-bodied wine with a greedy sweetness and notes of toffee, but underpinned by firm, rounded tannins promising a long, satisfying finish. Absolutely brilliant paired with grilled beef or aged cheeses – a truly delightful contrast.
