From the heart of the Douro wine region, in the transition zone between the Cima Corgo and the Upper Douro, Flor das Tecedeiras is a modern-style wine, full of fruit, and a mirror of the excellent terroir of this area. Made from the grape varieties Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Amarela, Flor das Tecedeiras is an opulent wine built on the rich tradition of the great growers of the Douro. On the nose it presents woodland nuances, where blackberry and blueberry notes mingle with plum aromas. On the palate it is expressive and full-bodied, revealing a floral profile with delicate black fruit notes, vanilla, and a hint of minerality. Once known as Quinta da Teixeira or Quinta da Teixeira Velha, the estate now called Quinta das Tecedeiras earned its current name from the nuns who inhabited it and devoted themselves to linen weaving, a crop once grown there. At the end of the 19th century, after the vines were devastated by phylloxera, the estate survived thanks to olive oil and fruit production. Years later, the vines were reintroduced, with care taken to preserve some of the old plots—an inheritance that now supplies the winemakers with wines from the ancient vineyards. From soils of a fertile, loamy character, hot summers and harsh winters, protected from wind by the surrounding mountain ranges, this is a dream terroir for any enologist aspiring to produce high-quality Dourado wines.
