This Freixo is a seriously ambitious project from the Family Collection. The grapes, meticulously selected and transferred in 20kg boxes, underwent gravity winemaking with a notably extended maceration – 20 days – all in pursuit of that deeply ripe fruit character. The influence of new French oak adds a lovely amplitude to the aromas, and promises a longevity that’s quite impressive. It’s a wine that would be absolutely fantastic with some grilled red meat, I’d imagine.
