A wine of great depth and richness, both in aromas and flavour. A mineral note leads to a persistent, long‑lasting finish that is very upfront and fresh, revealing a solid structure with a subtle, balsamic touch in the mouth. Thomas Reynolds, an English sailor and merchant, arrived in Portugal in 1820, drawn by the wine trade, and had two sons, Thomas and Robert. From Porto he supplied his commercial warehouse in London with Iberian products. In 1838 he entered the cork industry in Spain, expanding to Portugal and eventually settling in Estremoz. After the family moved to New Zealand, Robert stayed in Estremoz to run the business, rapidly developing it by acquiring new lands and producing quality wines, a pursuit he carried out with particular dedication and passion. The Alentejo became the definitive cradle of the Reynolds in Portugal and of Robert, the family patriarch. From that cradle came Robert’s eldest son, Robert Rafael, and from him, Carlos. Carlos had a first daughter named Gloria, Gloria Reynolds. In her honour, and of all his ancestors who lived in the Alentejo, Julian, Gloria’s son, produces a quality wine that bears his mother’s name – Gloria Reynolds (illustrative image only).
