This wine, from Herdade Aldeia de Cima, clearly benefitted from some serious planning – 20 hectares meticulously carved into a landscape that’s anything but boring. The blend of terroirs, spanning from the plateau at 289-300 metres to the Serra do Mendro at 300-380 metres, creates a wonderfully complex interplay of flavours, largely driven by the Alfrocheiro, Trincadeira and Aragonez grapes. It’s a wine that begs to be paired with a hearty beef roast – a truly satisfying match.
