This Alicante Bouschet from Rocim is a wonderfully powerful expression of the grape. The deep ruby colour hints at the layers within, and Robert Parker’s 90-point prediction was certainly justified – expect ripe black fruit bursting with flavour, a distinct minerality evocative of the Alentejo terroir, and a subtle warmth from barrel ageing. It’s a wine with serious structure – robust tannins and a touch of salinity, finishing long and persistent. Seriously impressive with grilled beef, perhaps paired with a good, dry Trémolo.
