This white wine from Herdade Papa Leite comes from a blend of Moscatel, Chenin Blanc, Viognier, and Semillon grown on clayey, limestone‑rich soils. It aged on lees for three months and in oak barrels for over a year, followed by bottle maturation, which added complexity and depth. The wine displays a golden‑yellow hue and a subtle aroma, with tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and passionfruit, all enveloped by the elegance of French oak. On the palate it offers a solid structure, freshness, and balance, with passionfruit reappearing and a long, persistent finish. Herdade Papa Leite, located in Alter do Chão in the heart of Alto Alentejo, dates back to the 17th century, still bearing traces of that era. After many families passed through, Filipe Barreiros Cardoso, a passionate steward, acquired the estate and, with his family and team, realized an old dream of producing high‑quality products. The estate has since expanded and revitalised, encompassing 320 hectares dedicated to wine, olive oil, and cattle. The vines are planted on clay soils, grapes are harvested at night and carefully selected before entering the cellar, ensuring the best raw material for the wine.
