A family business with almost two centuries of history that never rests on its laurels, it has learned to modernise. José Maria da Fonseca has been engaged in winemaking since 1834, a result of the shared passion of a family that has managed to preserve and project the memory and prestige of its founder. Aware of its responsibility as today’s oldest producer of table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal in Portugal, José Maria da Fonseca follows a philosophy of continuous development, which drives it to invest ever more in research and production support, blending the most modern techniques with traditional knowledge. A prime example of this is the Adega José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay jars coexists with the latest technology.
