Located in the Portuguese region of Alentejo, Quinta de Dona Maria is famed for its 18th‑century palace, a historic landmark that has also been a cornerstone of wine production for more than 150 years. In 1988, under new owner Júlio Bastos, the estate’s wines began to be marketed nationally and internationally, earning acclaim from the general public and wine critics alike. While the old cellar was restored, expanded and modernised, the 19th‑century marble vats—central to the vinification of these quality wines—remain in use. (illustrative image only)
