Lapa dos Gaivões The vineyards are planted on very poor soils with a finely textured acidity. The Mediterranean climate, cooled by winds from Serra de São Mamede, delivers daily temperature swings that concentrate the acidity needed for wines that can age. Most vines face south, planted on the counter-slope of granite mountains. This challenging environment yields only 3 tonnes/ha of highly concentrated grapes, producing wines of great complexity, elegance, and minerality.
