Very few producers, especially in Madeiran wine, have experienced a revolution as significant as Barbeito’s. Going from a bulk wine supplier to an instant benchmark of the Madeiran region is a remarkable feat. It all began in 1991 when Ricardo Freitas joined the family firm and, together with the Japanese Kinoshita, transformed Barbeito into one of the region’s most prominent producers.
