Description

The Herdade do Monte da Ribeira dates back to 1958, and was bought in 1986 by industrialist Victor Carmona and Costa, who in the following 15 years not only completely renovated the estate but also established the entire current agricultural production structure and winery. The estate is located in the civil parish of Pedrogão, within the municipality of Vidigueira and near the village of Marmelar. It covers roughly 1,100 hectares dedicated to viticultural and forestry exploitation. With wine production as one of its main focuses, the first vineyard was planted in 1989 and the first harvest arrived in 1992, marketed under the brand Vidigueira. Later, the brands Pousio and Quatro Caminhos were added, and more recently, the brand Marmelar. (illustrative image)
