This Bluníssima, hailing from the Lisboa region, demonstrates the rewards of patience and meticulous care. Crafted from a 40-year-old vineyard and the robust Aragonês grape, the wine underwent a dual barrel aging – first in French and then American oak, followed by time in stainless steel – to develop layers of complexity and elegance. The result is a deeply coloured red wine with aromas of ripe red berries, a hint of woodland, and surprisingly, a touch of mint. Well-integrated oak notes – evoking sweet and smoky spices – give it a truly distinctive character. On the palate, it’s undeniably seductive, boasting a full body and refreshing acidity that keeps it captivating, culminating in a remarkably long finish that suggests further maturation in the bottle. It would pair beautifully with a hearty beef roast to really bring out the wine’s intensity.
