This Monte Cascas is a seriously impressive wine – it snagged 17 points from Grandes Escolhas, you know! – and it really pulls you into a world of intensely ripe black fruits, like blueberries and blackberries, with a lovely dance of cured meats and a surprising hint of exotic spices. It’s a decadent experience on the palate, boasting a substantial structure that begs for a rich cut of beef, perhaps a properly aged pormascarado, to really balance it out. And, delightfully, a swirl of dark chocolate finishes things off with elegance and a long, lingering memory.
