The history of Favaios is lost to time. Its name derives from “Flávius,” an ancient Roman settlement that belonged to the land of Panoías. Its development has followed the dynasties. Since 1952, in this village of the Demarcated Douro region, the Favaios Cooperative Winery has become one of the country’s largest and most recognized, especially for the unmistakable quality of its Aperitivo and Moscatel de Favaios. The village’s growth owes much to wine, which has played a major role in the local economy and architecture. Paying attention to rising market demands and the internal shortcomings typical of facilities dating back to 1952, the Favaios Cooperative chose to invest in modernizing and revitalizing its infrastructure, now with more than 550 members. The year of bottling may not correspond to the image shown (illustrative only).
