This Palato do Côa is a delightful surprise, particularly given its backbone of traditional Douro grapes – Viosinho, Códega and Rabigato. Robert Parker’s impressive 87 points certainly validate the wine’s remarkable minerality and the vibrant notes of ripe citrus and mirabelle plum that it offers. Despite the initial impression of richness, a refreshing “lemon brightness” ensures it’s brilliantly suited to grilled fish or seafood, or just as a cool aperitif.
