Born from Carlos Magalhães’s bold vision in 2007, this Palato do Côa is a fascinating glimpse into the secrets still held by the terroir of Quinta da Saudade, nestled in the heart of the Douro Superior. The meticulous winemaking – cool maceration and controlled fermentation – beautifully highlights the Touriga Nacional, alongside the ‘Vinhas Velhas’ and Touriga Francesa. Nine months aging in French oak impart a lovely elegance, with those characteristic balsamic notes lingering on the palate, perfectly complementing the ripeness of the fruit. A wine of remarkable length, and lauded with 86 points by *Revista de Vinhos*, it’s a superb match for grilled beef.
