This “Principal” from Colinas de São Lourenço is, as the label suggests, a carefully crafted puzzle. Carlos Dias, with his bold ambitions, seems to have turned wine production into a symbolic exercise, almost as if he’s searching for hidden meaning within the virtues of Touriga Nacional, Petit Verdot and Merlot. It’s an intriguing wine experience – frankly, more like an enigma to unravel than a straightforward Bairrada red. Best paired with a good grilled steak, to prove that sometimes, the most important thing is the question the wine poses.
