This Libertas from Quinta das Tecedeiras is clearly a wine that’s indulged in a rather lovely daydream. The Aragonez and Tinto Cão have been coaxed into harmony within French oak barrels, resulting in a wine of beautiful, open colour and a wonderfully fresh, vibrant aroma of red berries and warming spices. Remarkably light-bodied with silky tannins, it feels as though the Douro itself is whispering a gentle suggestion – perhaps alongside a perfectly grilled fish.
