This São José wine is a truly remarkable, limited-run (only 1100 bottles) expression, driven entirely by Touriga Nacional. The 16-month French oak aging adds a welcome layer of refinement, though it steadfastly retains the core character of the grape. Expect subtle floral notes mingling with hints of dry heather, alongside ripe black plum and a touch of blackberry. A wine of robust tannins and balanced acidity, best appreciated with time – it’s certainly worthy of a 95-point Robert Parker recommendation, and would pair beautifully with a hearty game roast, perhaps a succulent roasted suckling pig.
