“The Quinta do Carmo Reserva from Bacalhôa – a producer already known for its distinctive touch in Palmela – is a wine that clearly enjoys making an impression. This wine employs a fascinating blend of Aragonês, Syrah, Alicante Bouschet, and Cabernet Sauvignon, meticulously divided by grape and macerated for a long, luxurious period in new French oak barrels. The result is a wine with a wonderfully developed personality. With a projected 3 million litres of production and housed in a technologically advanced cellar, Bacalhôa isn’t shy about ambitious projects – and this wine delivers. Deep in colour, boasting aromas of strawberries and orange blossom, it’s a wine that’s eager to be enjoyed, revealing nuances of coffee and crystallized fruit. As confirmed by a respectable 89 points in *Revista de Vinhos*, the balance between tannins and volume is superbly executed. Bacalhôa has produced a remarkably pleasurable wine – perfect alongside grilled beef or, perhaps, a generous glass enjoyed with a good mature cheese.”
