The Vallado Touriga Nacional red wine is made exclusively from the Touriga Nacional grape and ages for about 16 months in 225‑liter French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. It presents a very concentrated aroma, dominated by balsamic notes from the wood, well‑matured red fruits, and an elegant touch of violet. On the palate it shows great balance and fruit concentration, with mature, round tannins that support a long, fresh, and persistent finish. One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and which remains in the hands of her descendants today. Vallado wines had been unjustly forgotten but have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to be at the pinnacle. Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the Douro. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The future of this iconic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who are responsible for the company's management and enology, respectively.
