This Monteirinhos, having spent a good time in French oak, rewards patience – about 15 minutes to fully unfurl, you see. The dominant Touriga Nacional (60%) truly captures the spirit of the Dão, complemented by Tinta Roriz and Jaen which add a welcome layer of complexity to these sun-drenched vines planted on uniquely characterful soils. As the Associação de Sommeliers Portugueses noted, it’s a wine deserving of 90/100, and as praised by Revista Paixão pelo Vinhos, it’s “Muito Bom”. Absolutely fantastic with a slow-roasted pork dish, perhaps a wild boar, and a fantastic demonstration of your palate’s skill – a wine already lauded with a silver medal at the 11th Asia Wine Trophy and the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
