Quinta Nova: It was at Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo that the first study for a monovarietal planting in the Douro region took place. Between 1979 and 1981, in collaboration with the Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture, through the Center for Vitivinicultural Studies of the Douro, the best solar exposures were selected at Quinta Nova for a study of planting three varieties: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional, and Touriga Franca. Parcel 29, planted with Touriga Nacional, sits between 170 and 205 m above sea level. It is a unique example and a key element in the history of Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo at its peak expression of terroir. A true reference in the Douro, combined with the century‑old vineyard (Parcel 21), yields a wine with a very elegant, almost feminine profile, contrasting with an intense structure of succulent, precise tannins. The viscous texture, high gravity, syrupy profile, and purple hue reflect the nature of Touriga Nacional. A red wine crafted by Jorge Alves, aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. Prémios: 97/100 Robert Parker Information about allergens: Contains sulfites.
