The Quinta Vale D. Maria, situated in the heart of the Douro, in Cima Corgo and more precisely in the Vale do Rio Torto, has a history dating back to 1868. However, a new era of excellence began in 1996 when Cristiano van Zeller took over his wife’s family estate, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades, Cristiano has led a work of dedication and passion, creating unique wines of recognised quality both in Portugal and beyond. The acquisition of the Quinta by the Aveleda group in 2017 represents the continuation of this legacy, adding a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy is grounded in a passion for every detail, from the manual selection of the best bunches to the use of traditional vinification methods and the careful choice of the finest French oak barrels. A commitment to sustainable viticulture is a priority, ensuring that wine quality remains while respecting natural resources. (illustrative image only)
