Quinta Vale D. Maria, located in the heart of the Douro, in Cima Corgo, specifically in the Vale do Rio Torto, has a history dating back to 1868. However, it was in 1996 that a new era of excellence began, when Cristiano van Zeller acquired the family property from his wife, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades, Cristiano has led a work of dedication and passion, creating unique wines of recognized quality both in Portugal and abroad. The acquisition of Quinta Vale D. Maria by the Aveleda group in 2017 represents the continuation of this legacy, adding a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy is based on a passion for every detail, starting with the hand‑selection of the best grapes, followed by traditional winemaking methods, and ending with careful choice of the finest French oak barrels. A focus on a sustainable viticulture model is a priority, ensuring that wine quality remains while respecting natural resources.
