Quinta Vale D. Maria, situated in the heart of the Douro, in Cima Corgo and more precisely in Vale do Rio Torto, traces its history back to 1868. A new era of excellence began in 1996 when Cristiano van Zeller acquired the family property from his wife, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades he has led a work of dedication and passion, producing unique wines of recognised quality both in Portugal and abroad. The 2017 acquisition by the Aveleda group continues this legacy, adding a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy centres on a passion for every detail, from hand‑picking the best bunches to employing traditional winemaking methods and selecting the finest French oak barrels, all while prioritising a sustainable viticulture model that preserves wine quality and natural resources.
