Quinta Vale D. Maria, located in the heart of the Douro in the Cima Corgo—more precisely in the Vale do Rio Torto—has a history that dates back to 1868. However, a new era of excellence began in 1996 when Cristiano van Zeller took over the property from the family of his wife, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades, Cristiano has led a project of dedication and passion, producing unique wines of recognized quality both in Portugal and abroad. The acquisition of Quinta Vale D. Maria by the Aveleda Group in 2017 continues this legacy, adding a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy is built on a passion for every detail, starting with the hand‑selection of the finest bunches, followed by traditional vinification techniques, and concluding with the careful choice of the best French oak barrels.
