Founded in 1989 by Fernando Remírez de Ganuza, Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza has always operated with the initial premise of ensuring a rigorous grape‑classification process and minimal intervention in wine preparation. Over the years, new winemaking and ageing techniques have been introduced to continually improve the quality of their products and meet current market demands. The winery’s facilities are located in the centre of Samaniego, Álava, surrounded by a village of wandering old buildings; the cellar’s style has been kept the same to blend with the landscape. In 2010 Jose Ramon Urtasun joined the company founded by Fernando, marking the beginning of a new phase for Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza.
