Viura

About this grape variety

Viura is the Rioja name for the grape known as Macabeo in the rest of Spain (and Maccabéo in southern France). It is the dominant white grape of Rioja, producing wines from neutral, fresh, easy-drinking to remarkable, oak-aged, age-worthy whites — best exemplified by the legendary Marqués de Murrieta Castillo Ygay and López de Heredia Tondonia bottlings. Also a key blending grape in Cava.
