Made from the finest 2020 Viosinho grapes—a less traditional variety in the region—this wine was fermented in stainless‑steel tanks and aged for 12 months on fine lees with periodic bâtonnage. Scala Coeli gets its name from the Santa Maria Scala Coeli Monastery, commonly known as the Cartuxa Monastery, where Cistercian monks lived in silence and prayer. The Scala Coeli brand bases itself on the best vintages each year, drawing on less traditional varieties from Alentejo, with the first wine released in 2011. (illustrative image only)
