This Alvarinho from Soalheiro is a delightfully early harvest surprise – a real head-turner. The Quinta da Aveleda, known for their Monção and Melgaço production, has brilliantly chosen its grapes, resulting in a wine brimming with citrus and tropical notes, underpinned by an acidity that really stands out. Interestingly, their whole-cluster pressing and low-temperature fermentation have created a remarkable balance, perfectly supporting the wine’s 9% ABV. It would be fantastic with a strong, aged cheese, or perhaps a simple slice of crusty bread drizzled with olive oil – a combination that, with this wine, feels undeniably destined.
