Soalheiro Granit Branco

Description

Granite Soalheiro showcases the most mineral side of the Alvarinho grape. It comes from a carefully selected group of vineyards planted above 200 m in altitude, highlighting the mineral character that links the granite‑origin soil of the Monção e Melgaço terroir with the Alvarinho grape. The wine is refined through batonage and aging on fine lees. Fermentation takes place in stainless‑steel tanks at a higher temperature than usual for white wines, resulting in an elegant, mineral‑driven aroma with a dry, persistent finish. The Alvarinho grapes used in the Granite Soalheiro are sourced from small vineyards planted on granite soil above 200 m, located in the unique microclimate of the Monção e Melgaço sub‑region, the northernmost part of Portugal. The grapes, exclusively Alvarinho, are hand‑picked into small‑capacity crates and brought to the cellar quickly. After pressing, the juice settles for 48 hours, followed by fermentation in stainless‑steel tanks at a higher‑than‑usual temperature with pre‑selected yeasts. Bottling occurs after batonage and fine‑lees ageing. The wine has a citrine yellow colour, a restrained and elegant aromatic profile with mineral notes and a dry finish. Sulphites are present.
