Description

Known in the past as Quinta da Teixeira or Quinta da Teixeira Velha, Quinta das Tecedeiras owes its current name to the nuns who once inhabited it, dedicating themselves to weaving linen that was once grown there. At the end of the 19th century, the vines were wiped out by phylloxera, and the estate survived on olive oil and fruit production. Years later, the vineyard was reconverted, but with care to preserve some old plots—a heritage that now fuels the winemaking, yielding wines from the venerable vines. With fertile, loamy soils, hot summers, harsh winters, and sheltered from the wind by surrounding mountain ranges, this terroir is a dream for any winemaker aspiring to craft excellent Duriens.
