The Vale D. Maria Douro Superior Branco is a creamy, well‑balanced wine with integrated acidity. Located in the heart of the Douro, in the Cima Corgo region’s Vale do Rio Torto, the estate dates back to 1868, but a new era of excellence began in 1996 when Cristiano van Zeller acquired the family property from his wife, Joana Lemos van Zeller. Over more than two decades, he has devoted himself to creating unique, quality wines recognised both in Portugal and abroad. The 2017 acquisition by the Aveleda group continues this legacy, adding a long‑term vision focused on excellence and sustainability. This philosophy hinges on meticulous attention to detail—from hand‑selecting the best bunches to using traditional vinification techniques and carefully choosing the finest French oak barrels—while prioritising sustainable viticulture to maintain wine quality and protect natural resources.
