One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and is still in the hands of her descendants. Vallado wines have unjustly fallen into obscurity, but have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. They are wines of great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to be in the top tiers. Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the Douro. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Corgo River. The fate of this iconic estate is in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, and they are responsible for the management of the company and enology, respectively.
