One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, a property that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira—known as the Ferreirinha—and which remains in the hands of her descendants to this day. Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten for a time, but have now naturally reclaimed their lost momentum. They hold great significance in the history of the Douro, deserving a place among the highest echelons. Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region. It is situated just outside Régua, on the banks of the Corgo River. The stewardship of this emblematic estate rests with João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who oversee the business and the enology, respectively.
