One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, an estate that belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira—known as the Ferreirinha—and which remains today in the hands of her descendants. The Vallado wines, once unjustly forgotten, have naturally reclaimed their lost time. They hold great significance in the history of the Douro and deserve a place among the top ranks. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region, located just outside Régua on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The destiny of this emblematic estate is now in the hands of João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who oversee the company’s management and its enology, respectively.
