One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, once owned by D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira (the Ferreirinha) and still today held by her descendants. The Vallado wines, long unjustly neglected, have naturally reclaimed their lost glory. They are wines of great historical importance in the Douro, deserving a place at the pinnacle. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region, situated near Régua on the banks of the River Corgo. Its destiny now rests with João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both Ferreirinha descendants who oversee the business and enology, respectively.
