One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, a property once owned by D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and still in the hands of her descendants today. Vallado wines had been unjustly forgotten, but they have now naturally reclaimed their lost time. These wines hold great importance in the history of the Douro and deserve to be among the highest echelons. Founded in 1716, Quinta do Vallado stands as one of the oldest estates in the Douro. It is located near Régua, on the banks of the Rio Corgo. The future of this emblematic estate rests with João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who are respectively responsible for the company’s management and enology.
