One of the most prestigious estates in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, once owned by D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and still in the hands of her descendants today. Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten but have now naturally reclaimed their lost glory. They are wines of great importance in Douro history and deserve top positions. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado ranks among the oldest in the region. It sits just outside Régua on the banks of the River Corgo, and its destiny is now under João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both Ferreirinha descendants responsible for the estate’s management and enology, respectively.
