One of the most prestigious quintas in the Douro is Quinta do Vallado, a estate that once belonged to D. Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, the Ferreirinha, and which remains in the hands of her descendants today. Vallado wines were unjustly forgotten but have naturally reclaimed their lost time, and they occupy a place of great importance in the history of the Douro, deserving to be among the top. Built in 1716, Quinta do Vallado is one of the oldest estates in the region, situated near Régua on the banks of the Rio Corgo. Its destiny lies with João Alves Ribeiro and Francisco Ferreira, both descendants of the Ferreirinha, who oversee the company management and enology, respectively.
