This Alicante Bouschet, hailing from old vines in the Alentejo, is a delightfully exuberant wine. The deep, almost vibrant colour hints at the youthful vigour of the grapes. Aromas of violet intertwine with fresh red berries, underscored by a subtle honeyed plum note. There’s a striking minerality – reminiscent of crushed stone – that adds a surprising complexity. On the palate, it’s structured and firm, with granular tannins creating a truly luxurious texture, and a refreshing acidity recalling the best Burgundy wines. It would be fantastic with a good piece of lamb.
