Crasto Altitude 430 is the result of research into the potential of the wide range of indigenous Douro grape varieties, carried out by the viticulture and winemaking teams at Quinta do Crasto. Made from Tinta Francisca and Touriga Nacional, this low-alcohol red wine reflects grapes grown at altitude (430 metres) and is fresh and elegant. It shows a garnet colour, clean aromas reminiscent of red fruit and fine spices, and a rich, seductive palate. Located on the right bank of the Douro River, between Régua and Pinhão, Quinta do Crasto is a property of around 130 hectares, of which 70 are planted with vines. The company's holdings also include Quinta do Querindelo, with 10 hectares of old vines, and Quinta da Cabreira in the Douro Superior, with 114 hectares of vineyards. Ideally situated in the Demarcated Douro Region, Quinta do Crasto has been owned by the Roquette family, led by Leonor and Jorge Roquette, for more than a century. As is often the case with the great quintas of the Douro, the history of Quinta do Crasto goes back a long way: the name Crasto derives from the Latin "castrum", meaning Roman fort.
