Adega Cooperativa De Borba

About this producer

Adega de Borba is a historic wine cooperative founded in 1955, pioneering the Alentejo region as the first winery established in this demarcated area with support from the former National Wine Board. Located in the Borba sub-region, renowned for its limestone-rich marble soils that impart freshness and longevity to wines, the winery brings together 300 associate winegrowers cultivating approximately 2,000 hectares of vineyards, distributed between 70% red grape varieties and 30% white grape varieties. Specializing in DOC Alentejo and Regional Alentejano wine production, Adega de Borba produces an annual average of 10.7 million liters of wine, exporting to 35 countries. Among its most recognized ranges are Adega de Borba, Montes Claros, Quintas de Borba, Campus, and Rótulo de Cortiça wines, the latter considered a true flagship of the house. The winery is certified by CVRA (Regional Wine Commission of Alentejo) and participates in the Alentejo Wines Sustainability Program, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable viticultural practices. With over 66 years of history, Adega de Borba also offers wine tourism experiences, including guided tours, wine tastings, and its own restaurant, positioning itself as a reference point for discovering Alentejo wines and the rich winemaking tradition of the Borba region. Beyond wines, the cooperative produces brandies, liqueurs, and extra virgin olive oil, keeping alive the Alentejo agricultural tradition.
