Cabernet Sauvignon

About this grape variety

The world's most widely planted red grape and the principal variety of the Médoc in Bordeaux. Cabernet Sauvignon is small-berried with thick skin, producing wines of deep colour, firm tannin and signature blackcurrant, cedar and graphite aromatics. It needs warmth to ripen fully — yielding austere green notes when cool — and reaches global benchmark expression in Bordeaux Left Bank, Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo. The grape is also a workhorse of New World value reds.
