Muscadelle

About this grape variety

Not a member of the Muscat family despite the name, Muscadelle is a Bordeaux blending grape used in small quantities for both dry Bordeaux Blanc and the noble-rot Sauternes alongside Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Contributes floral, muscat-like aromatics and a slightly oily texture. Also significant in Australia, where it makes the fortified "Topaque" of Rutherglen — once known as Tokay.
