This Adega Mae Reserva, hailing from Lisboa, reads a bit like it escaped from a particularly flamboyant cookbook. A bold blend of Viosinho complemented by a touch of Petit Verdot and Touriga Nacional, alongside a serious Cabernet Sauvignon and even a Chardonnay – a frankly bewildering combination! It’s perhaps no surprise that it earned a gold medal; this wine certainly possesses a robust character and a finish that pairs beautifully with a good black pork roast.
