This Cadão Reserva, having spent three years gazing out over the Douro sky, delivers a deep ruby colour hinting at remarkable complexity. The nose bursts with cooked red and black fruits – think plum compote – underpinned by a refreshing, almost stony balsamic note, a signature of the schistous terroir. On the palate, it’s a wonderfully structured wine, dense and surprisingly velvety, a testament to the classic blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Aragonez. Seriously, it begs for a hearty beef roast, or perhaps a lamb dish with rosemary – a truly satisfying pairing.
